A New Voice for District 14

Kevin Burton is committed to bringing integrity, transparency, and a fresh perspective to Oregon House District 14, one that will provide a voice for all Oregonians and not just those in the majority or those with whom I agree.

Who is Kevin Burton?

Kevin is a life-long Oregonian, born in Nyssa and raised in communities along the I-5 corridor.    He was a farm kid who grew up raising livestock and helping with the family orchard.  When not working, he spent his free time hunting, fishing, and hiking the woods near his home.  He later moved to North Bend where he worked on a charter fishing boat and did research at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology.  He currently teaches math, life skills courses, and the sciences (biology, marine biology, oceanography, chemistry, and physics) at a small private Christian school.

Key Priorities for District 14

Restoring Our Rights

I am committed to ensuring that the will of petitioners and signers in the initiative process is respected and followed.  I will introduce several bills to clarify and enshrine these rights into the Oregon constitution.

I will introduce legislation to restore Oregonians' 2nd Amendment rights, the rights of women and girls to private spaces and sports free from biological males, and to restore religious liberties both to individuals and to business owners.

Government Accoutability

I will hold schools accountable for properly educating our children in the essentials instead of filling their days with political propaganda.

I will vote to remove language referring to Oregon as a sanctuary state and add language confirming that we will follow and support all federal laws.

I will work to move the focus of public spending from special interest groups to those programs all Oregonians can support.

Respecting Oregonians

I will work to establish clear and reliable means to verify that all registered voters are citizens of the United States, that they are registered at only one address, and that voters who have died are promptly removed from the voter rolls.  I will vote in favor of a bill to establish voter identification requirements.  Our failure to do so has robbed our citizens of the right to have their votes truly count in our elections.

I will also work to ensure that the voices of rural Oregonians are heard and respected.  For too long, they have been pushed aside in favor of the preferences of city dwellers while their own needs have been ignored.
